EBRD provides €25.5 million for modernisation of Chisinau airport

2008 DEC 18 - In the biggest infrastructure project signed in Moldova this year the EBRD is financing the modernisation of the airport in the capital Chisinau with a €25.5 million loan. The European Investment Bank (EIB) will co-finance this project with a €20 million loan. The funds will be used for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the airport infrastructure and related equipment. The modernisation will help Chisinau International Airport, Moldova’s only international airport, to continue with its successful commercial development. The EBRD has seen a significant increase in its business volume in Moldova in 2008 with projects worth more than €100 million signed this year and a strong pipeline for the near future.Source: http://www.ebrd.com

350MW Power Plant to be Built in Ungheni during 2009-2014

2008 DEC 22 - a 600 million Eur investment project - the largest in the last 17 years - will be implemented during 2009-2014 in Moldova. The project targets the construction of an Ungheni-located 350 MW power plant and is to be carried out by the UnitedEnergy Moldova, member of the Czech group JT FinanceGroup. The agreement also stipulates the construction of a 400 KV high-tension interconnection line Ungheni-Iasi and creation of a subzone within the Ungheni - Business" Free Economic Zone.
